WORK HISTORY:
TAXI NEW YORK: senior writer (2008-2010)
I make things. Specifically ads. Those ads can take any shape - from :30 second spots to websites to billboards to mobile apps to something so awesome it hasn’t even been thought of yet. I also develop strategy for brands, campaigns, and pitches.
CLIENTS: Rover wireless, Blue Shield of California, Rail Europe, Motrin, The Jewish Federations of North America, One Laptop per Child.
TAXI TORONTO: interactive writer (2006-2008)
I made things. Specifically ads. I also played a role in the creative department integration by helping traditional teams embrace and understand the interactive space.
CLIENTS: Molson beers, AMP’D mobile, MINI, Viagra, TELUS Mobilty, Canadian Tire, AOL, Aviva Insuance, Penningtons, Canadian Film Center.
MACLAREN MCCANN, TORONTO: writer (2004-2006)
I learned how to make ads, back when agency land was full of silos and the ‘Internet’ was seen as alien territory. I chose the Internet because I was psychic. Or maybe just smart.
CLIENTS: General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, UPS, Intel, Tylenol, The Sony Store.
CANADIAN EMBASSY, WASHINGTON DC & MOSCOW: summer student (1996-2003)
For 7 summers, I did everything and anything I was asked to do, including: supervising russian workers (in case they were spies), crumpling classified documents for burning, counting silverware, troubleshooting military computers, backing up files in an antiquated server room, going to capitol hill and writing reports on environmental issues like zebra mussels, and even photocopying one guy’s entire business card collection.
EDUCATION:
HUMBER COLLEGE, TORONTO: copywriting certificate (2004)
TRINITY COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO: specialist in semiotics & communication, anthropology (2003)
Somehow during my academic stint, I managed to write and direct two plays, was the opinions editor of the college newspaper, scribe of a notorious secret society, choral scholar in the chapel choir, and archivist of debating club. Possibly a dork too.
